This film probably comes nearest to capturing some of the elements that made Pulp Fiction a great film. The pacing, the rhetoric and build-up of tension are similar. Maybe not quite as good as Pulp but better than most of the latter day Tarantino offerings with very memorable scenes you will continue to play in your head for sometime after. I especially liked the long scene set in the basement of a French Tavern which keeps you guessing as to the outcome right from the beginning. The German Colonel detective steals the film for providing an on-screen baddie that is both watchable and evil at the same time, like all great film baddies of the past.
